1. Work out what exactly is missing
Start by naming the problem clearly, because each kind of missing catalog has a different fix. A whole catalog that no customer can see usually points to an account or profile problem. One missing product usually points to review or to that item alone. A missing collection points to how your items are grouped. A broken link is different again, because the catalog itself may be healthy while the door to it is broken.
Do not judge this from your own phone alone. Your own app can show you a saved older view of your catalog, so everything can look fine to you while customers see something else. Check your business profile from a second phone in the house, the way a new customer would see it. If no second phone is free, ask one regular customer to open your profile and tell you what they see, or send you a screenshot of it.
Before you change anything, answer these four questions in order.
- Can the other phone see any part of your catalog at all?
- Is one single product missing while the rest show normally?
- Is a full collection missing while its products show on their own?
- Does the catalog open inside WhatsApp but fail when someone taps your shared link?
Your answers point you to the right section below. A boutique owner missing only her new kurtis has a review matter. A kirana seller whose whole list has vanished has an account matter.
One more check belongs here. Collections help buyers browse by theme, occasion or need, so a missing collection can make good products feel lost even when they are present. Our guide to WhatsApp Business collections explains how collections are built and reviewed.
2. Items still in review or rejected
Every catalog item is reviewed before customers can see it. That single fact explains a large share of missing products, because a freshly added item is not live the moment you save it. It waits in review first, and only after approval does it appear on your profile for buyers. If you added a range this morning and buyers ask about it this afternoon, review may simply still be running.
Open the WhatsApp Business app, go to Tools and then Catalog, and open the item that is missing. Menu names can differ a little between app versions, but the item page is where its current status lives. An item that is still being checked will show as pending or in review on that page. There is nothing to repair in that case. You wait, and you check the same item page again later rather than adding the product a second time.
Adding the same product again while the first copy waits only creates confusion. Buyers may later see the same kurti or cake twice at different prices. Keep one clean listing per product, and update that listing when prices or stock change.
An item can also come back rejected, which means it will stay invisible until you change it and it passes review. The item page will show the rejected status, and sometimes a short note about the reason. Read our full guide on what to do when a catalog product is rejected before you edit, because the right fix depends on the reason, and random edits waste another full round of review.
If an item shows as pending, leave it alone and check again later. Editing or adding it again during review does not speed anything up, and it often makes the catalog harder to read for you and for buyers.
3. Hidden items and missing details
An item can be present in your catalog and still be invisible to buyers because it is set to hidden. Sellers hide items for good reasons, such as a design that sold out or a seasonal mithai box that will return next month, and then forget the setting is still on. Open the item inside Catalog and look at its visibility setting. If it is hidden, change it back to visible and save, then check from the second phone again.
Missing details hold items back just as often. A listing with an empty field or an unfinished description can sit unseen while complete listings around it show normally. Go through the missing item field by field and fill anything that is blank.
For sellers in India there is a second layer of details that must be complete. Your business information has to be added to your profile, including your legal name, your business type, and your customer care and grievance details. On top of that, each item needs a country of origin. If the goods come from outside India, the item also needs the importer name and address. An item can wait unseen simply because one of these India details is missing.
Your wider profile matters too, because an incomplete profile can hold items back. Our guide on how to create a WhatsApp Business account carries the full profile checklist, so work through it once rather than guessing which field is at fault.
- Open the item and confirm it is set to visible, not hidden.
- Fill every blank field on the item, including price and description.
- Add the country of origin for the item.
- For goods whose origin is not India, add the importer name and address.
- Complete the legal name, business type and customer care details on your profile.
4. App and account checks
Sometimes the catalog is fine and the app in front of you is the problem. An old version of the app can show stale screens, fail to load fresh changes or hide options that have moved. Update the WhatsApp Business app from your app store, then close it fully and open it again. That simple pair of steps clears a surprising number of display problems, for salon price lists and boutique catalogs alike.
Next, confirm you are looking at the right account. Many sellers run two numbers, one personal and one for the shop, and some also use the regular WhatsApp app alongside the Business app. A catalog belongs to the Business app account that created it. If you are signed in with the second number, or looking inside the regular app, the catalog of your shop will not be there, no matter how many times you refresh the screen.
Check on the main phone that holds the business number, rather than judging everything from a linked device such as a laptop. Linked devices are handy for replies, but the full catalog tools live with the main account on the main phone. Make your checks and edits there.
Phone changes deserve a special mention. If your catalog seems to have vanished on a new phone, a different number or account is usually signed in there. Sign in with the number that owns the catalog, and your items should be waiting. The catalog lives with the account, not with the phone.
5. Link problems
A catalog can be perfectly visible on your profile while the link you share leads nowhere. Catalog links are auto generated by WhatsApp and they cannot be customised. That means the link works exactly as WhatsApp made it, and it may break if it is edited, shortened by hand or copied with a piece missing. Even one character changed while forwarding can be enough to spoil it.
The safe habit is simple. Whenever you need to share your catalog, go inside Catalog on the main phone and copy a fresh link from there, instead of reusing an old forwarded link. Paste it into your Instagram bio or delivery note exactly as copied, and never retype it by hand.
Remember also that a deleted item takes its link with it. If you once shared the link of a single product and later deleted that product, anyone tapping the old link will reach a dead end, even though your catalog is healthy. This happens often with resellers who rotate stock quickly. Share the main catalog link for general promotion, and share single product links only for items you plan to keep listed.
- Copy a fresh catalog link from inside Catalog every time you share.
- Never edit, shorten or retype an auto generated link.
- Replace old links in your bio and saved messages after any big catalog change.
- Expect links of deleted items to stop working for good.
Test the fresh link the way a buyer would. Send it to the second phone, tap it there, and confirm it opens your catalog with current products and prices. A link that opens an old item means the wrong link is still in circulation, usually in a bio or a pinned message.
6. Give buyers a second door
Even a healthy catalog has one real limit. It lives inside WhatsApp, so a buyer has to open the app and find your profile before they can browse. People who meet your shop elsewhere do not always complete that journey. Someone who sees your reel on Instagram, taps through, and lands in a chat may never notice the catalog sitting behind your profile photo, especially on a first visit.
A catalog page on the open web removes that friction. It opens in any browser, on any phone, without the buyer needing to find anything inside an app first. You can put that one link in your Instagram bio, on a printed card in the parcel and in your status, and every tap lands directly on your products with photos and prices laid out clearly. When a buyer is ready, the order still comes to your own WhatsApp chat, so your way of talking and confirming stays exactly the same.
This is the problem Catalink is built to solve for small sellers. Your products sit on one clean web page that you share anywhere, and buyers browse it like a small shop window before they message you. It does not replace your WhatsApp catalog. It gives the same products a second door, which matters most on the days the in app catalog is under review, hidden by mistake or simply hard for a new buyer to find.
Use both doors with the same discipline. Keep names and prices equal in both places, and remove sold out items promptly. When the two views agree, a buyer who arrives from any direction sees one truth about your shop.
7. Frequently asked questions
Why can I see my catalog but customers cannot?
Your own app can show you a saved older view of your catalog, including items that are still in review or set to hidden. Customers only see approved and visible items. Check your profile from a second phone to see the true buyer view, then check the status of each missing item inside Catalog.
How long does item review take?
No fixed time is published for single items, so a pending item is best left alone while you check its status page from time to time. For collections, WhatsApp says review should take no more than 24 hours. If an item is rejected rather than pending, waiting will not help, and you need to edit it first.
Why is there no shopping button in my chats?
The shopping button appears in a customer chat automatically when the account is registered on the WhatsApp Business app and has a catalog. If buyers do not see it, confirm that your shop number is on the Business app, that at least one approved item is listed, and that the buyer is chatting with the correct business number.
My catalog vanished after I changed phones. What now?
The most likely cause is that a different number or account is signed in on the new phone. Sign in with the number that owns the catalog, open Tools and then Catalog on that phone, and check again. The catalog belongs to the account, so changing phones alone does not delete your products.
A single product link stopped working. Why?
The item may have been deleted, which removes its link as well, or the link may have been edited or copied in part somewhere along the way. Open Catalog, copy a fresh link from inside it without changing a single character, replace the old link everywhere you shared it, and test the new one from another phone.
