1. Why chats make bad catalogs
If you sell on WhatsApp or Instagram, you know the daily drill. A customer says "hi." You send twenty photos. They reply "price?" under each one. You type the same prices you typed yesterday, and the day before. By evening, your chat is a mess and you have answered the same five questions forty times.
A chat was built for talking, not for shopping. Photos get buried under new messages within hours. Prices live only in your head or in old messages nobody can find. Every new customer starts from zero, and you walk each one through the same collection personally. It works when you have five customers a week. It breaks when you have fifty.
2. What most sellers try first
- WhatsApp Business catalog. It lives only inside WhatsApp, the layout is basic, and you cannot share it properly on Instagram.
- A PDF catalog. It is outdated the day you make it. Every price change means a new file, and customers end up with three old versions floating around.
- A full website. Costs thousands, usually needs a developer for every small change, and it is overkill when your customers just want to chat with you and buy.
- A Google Drive or photo album link. No prices, no order, looks unprofessional. Customers will not take it seriously.
Something between a chat and a website: a single page with your products, photos, prices, and a button that brings the buyer back into conversation.
3. The 5-minute setup
Here is the whole process. If you can post a WhatsApp status, you can do this:
- Step 1. Sign in with your Google account. No new password to remember.
- Step 2. Add your products one by one: a photo, a name, a price, and a line about it. Mark anything sold out with one tap.
- Step 3. You get a link like catalink.in/s/yourshop. Put it in your WhatsApp bio, your Instagram bio, and your status. Done.
From then on, when someone asks "what do you have?", you send the link instead of twenty photos. They browse. When they tap "I want this" on a product, they land in your chat with a message like "Hi! I want this: Red Silk Saree, Rs 2,999. Is it available?" already typed. You just reply.
4. Three small things that make a big difference
- Photos in daylight. You do not need a camera. A phone photo near a window beats a dark, yellow indoor photo every time.
- Put the real price. "DM for price" kills more sales than a high price does. Customers who can see the price are customers who are ready to buy.
- Mark sold items immediately. Nothing frustrates a buyer like picking something that sold out last week. One tap keeps your catalog honest.
Get started
Stop sending the same twenty photos every day. Put your catalog on one link and let customers browse on their own.
